Which SIM to get, where to buy it, and why the operator's own office beats a kiosk.

Georgia has three operators: Magti (Magticom), Silknet and Cellfie. All three have offices in Batumi, and a SIM takes ten minutes and a passport.

📱 Which operator

Magti appMagti (Magticom)

The best coverage in the country — you notice it in the mountains and on the road to Tbilisi. If you leave the city at all, take this one.

Unlimited, monthly:
45 ₾ / 30 days — data, minutes and SMS
Shorter unlimited:
12 ₾ / 7 days · 5 ₾ / 3 days · 3 ₾ / 1 day
Tourist plan:
5 GB + SMS, 15 days — 15 ₾
Batumi office:
5 Irakli Abashidze St

I pay 35 ₾ for unlimited data for 30 days and make calls over WhatsApp. When I do need to dial a real number, I top up minutes — 5 ₾ for 60 minutes over 30 days.

Silknet appSilknet

The former Geocell. In town it is no different from Magti; outside the city it is slightly weaker.

Unlimited:
15 ₾ / 7 days · 30 ₾ / 15 days
Tourist Pack:
4 GB + 30 min + SMS, 15 days — 15 ₾

Cellfie appCellfie

The former Beeline. The cheapest gigabyte, but coverage sags outside Batumi and Tbilisi. A good choice if you stay in town all month.

Package:
30 GB, 30 days — 25 ₾

📝 How to get one

  1. 1Bring your passport — without it no one will sell you a SIM.
  2. 2Go to an operator office: all three have branches downtown and in the malls.
  3. 3Say how many days of data you need — the clerk will pick a package and activate it in front of you.
  4. 4Test the connection before you leave the counter.
  5. 5Install the operator's app — that is where you renew the package and check what is left.

🏠 Home internet is installed by Magti and Silknet; it takes a few days and needs the landlord's consent. Most rentals already have it — ask before signing the lease, and ask about the speed too.
