Batumi season by season

The weather month by month, when the sea is warm, how to get through a damp winter and when rent is cheapest.

checked in August 2026

The main thing about Batumi's climate is that it is wet. Rainfall is around 2,200 mm a year, more than anywhere else in Georgia, and humidity sits at 70–80%. That changes everything: how the temperature feels, what clothes to bring and how to choose a flat.

📅 What each season is like

SeasonAirWhat that means
Summer, June–Augustaround +25…+30warm sea, a full city, expensive rent
Septemberaround +25the golden season: the water is still warm and there are fewer tourists
Octoberaround +19the wettest month of the year
Novemberaround +15the city empties and rents fall
Winteraround +7…+12not freezing, but damp and windy
Springaround +12…+20rain, turning warm by May

🧥 What to bring to wear

  • A waterproof jacket with a hood — an umbrella is useless in a side wind.
  • Thick-soled shoes that keep water out: the streets flood quickly.
  • Light layers rather than one thick jumper — indoors the air conditioning often runs hot.
  • In summer, things that dry fast: at this humidity cotton takes a day.
  • A swimsuit is in play from May to October.

❄️ Getting through winter in a flat

  1. 1Check the heating before you move in: an air conditioner with a heat mode, a gas boiler, or nothing.
  2. 2Air the place even in the rain — ten minutes twice a day, or mould will come.
  3. 3Run the bathroom extractor every time and leave the door open after a shower.
  4. 4A dehumidifier is the most useful thing you can buy for the winter — it saves your clothes and your electronics too.
  5. 5Do not dry laundry in a room without ventilation: that is litres of water into the air.
  6. 6Keep furniture a couple of centimetres off external walls so air can move behind it.

If you are choosing when to come for the first time, September is the best month. The sea is warm, the heat has broken, the crowds have gone and the rain has not properly started.
